What Fellowship of the Earth IS:
A congregation of the Universal Life Church.
Dedicated to those who follow Earth Spirituality.
Proud of our cultural and spiritual diversity.
Educating against religious intolerance.
Providing a community network of those with similar beliefs.
Celebrating the Earth and Her seasons.
Promoting kinship and respect for all.
FOTE mainly functions as a local group of Pagan's who have come together
through similar beliefs. While most of our activity is locally oriented,
we do work with other orgranizations in the Pagan community outside of
our area. Through this website we offer anyone, anywhere, access to available
resources. Whether it's sharing experiences and informaiton on our message
board, or contributing to our "Fight the Fear" Purple Ribbon Campaign,
people everywhere are invited to be a part of FOTE no matter where they
live. If you are fortunate enough to live within our local community area,
you can join us in person for our monthly meetings and seasonal events.
If you live further away, you are invited to be a part of FOTE by contributions
to the website, or financial contributions directly to the group. Your
support is greatly appreciated and helps us to continue to assist other
organizations and sustain our needs.
Our Beliefs
These beliefs may vary from person to person. The Goddess and God are
revered. This is central to Earth Religion thought. Human souls enjoy
a series of incarnations. Reincarnation is one of the most wide-spread
of Earth Religion beliefs. Precisely how and why we incarnate several
times is open to mystical speculation. Power can be sent in non-physical
form to affect the world in positive ways. Thus, we accept both the practice
of magick and its effectiveness. What is done will be returned to the
doer. Precisely how this energy is returned has been a matter of great
speculation. The Karmic threefold law. The Earth is our home, our Goddess.
It's not a tool that we can ruthlessly abuse. Ecological concerns pay
an important role. Many rituals are performed to give healing strength
to the Earth. We are not evangelical. We have no need to go out and spread
the word. Answering questions about our religion is far different from
knocking on doors and asking strangers, "Have you heard the word of the
Goddess today?" We accept that every religion is correct to its adherents.
This doesn't mean that we agree or like every representative of every
religion, but ecumenicism must be the way of life. Earth Religions accept
members from both sexes, from every race, national origin and, of every
sexual preference. We do not cause harm to others. Unless in self defense.
"Harm None" We believe in living as examples of our faith and treat others
with dignity and respect.
Religious Tolerance- This is one of the most important goals. This journey will be a rough and long road, but our solidarity will bring truth to the masses who would have believed that we are something other than what we are. Friends of the Earth believes everyone has a right to persue their own path to the devine. We do not condone or condem people for their religious beliefs. Many people who persue the path of Earth Religions face continual harassment and negative reactions when they go public with their beliefs. Taking on religious tolerance and the right that we are guaranteed under the United States Constitution isn't easy for one who stands alone. We now are not alone, there are many of us who believe now is the time to fight the misconceptions and relay the truth of our ways. We do not preach hatred of any religion, yet some religions continue to spread lies and mistruths in order to enstill fear unto their congregation. Fear is an element of control, and religions based on fear try to control the masses. We want to take the element of Fear and transform it into understanding and tolerance.
Community Service- This group is dedicated to be out in the community providing needed services for those who may not have access to help. We plan to do ecological and social programs to promote goodwill within the community we live. This is not only because of our nature of wanting to give and help others, but to be publicly out in the community showing people we are not some weird freaks, but people like themselves trying to make this world a better place to live and raise our families.
Education- Fellowship of the Earth is dedicated to providing a funnel of information for our membership on different traditions as well as philosophies, crafts, divination and other similar educational tools. Our education also reaches out to the community providing access to what we are about and the beliefs that make up our congregation.
Public Awareness- This ties in heavily with religious tolerance. We need to get the message out that we will no longer stand for being ridiculed and will not take false accusations lightly. We want to provide awareness campaigns for all facets of our society, media, government, law enforcement, and other organizations.
Some of the ideas we have already been bouncing around include fundraisers, such as recycling, festivals and workshops. We have talked about providing help to those in our community such as the elderly and the poor. We also eventually would like other groups of Fellowship of the Earth to form nationally and globally. A long term goal is to establish a radio station which would broadcast to the pagan community with music, points of views, news, and many other interesting segments geared toward the Earth based community. We have many goals, and will achieve them in time with support and love from our membership and community. We will also be adding new goals and re-evaluating old ones, but the main 5 goals will always be the basis of this organization.
