A. Freedom of Religion Issues Addressed by the Project

Through a cooperative effort involving businesses and community organizations, the Fellowship of the Earth (FOTE) Prisoners Rights Project will address the following issues in  State and locally operated institutions:

Appropriate availability of resource and reference materials, ability to appropriately celebrate religious holidays and holy days of choice, educational materials and resources for institutional facility staff in regards to different or alternative religious paths, recognition of various Earth Religion or alternative religious paths, protection of the right to Freedom of Religion, acceptable allowance of spiritual counseling, investigation into unlawful deprivation of constitutional rights, legal advice or aid in issues where a persons First Amendment Rights are interfered with
Several businesses and organizations, including FOTE, appear as partners in this proposal

B. How the Prisoners Rights Project will be utilized to address Freedom of Religion Issues

The project will provide for spiritual needs of inmates who choose to express their First Amendment Right of freedom of religious choice. Resource materials such as books, printed documents, educational literature, correspondence, support and guidence would be provided on an as needed basis for incarcerated individuals. This project will couple the resource and civil rights needs of inmates with educational programs for facility staff to aid in tolerance of an individuals right to freedom of religion.
