Prisoner's Rights Project
The following pages are a work in progress to assemble a unit of advisors and
leaders from the Pagan community who wish to participate in the Prisoners Rights
Project. This project will work to create a Pagan Prisoner's Rights handbook
which would outline resources and information pertaining to religious rights
for incarcerated or institutionalized individuals. It would also provide basic
guidelines and ethical tenets shared among the greater Pagan community. Alternatives
and solutions to common problems with practicing a Pagan path would also be
explored and shared. Materials would also be created to facilitate the need
to educate those who are staffing correctional facilities and working as contact
points for facilities religious services departments. Establishing a working
partnership among other Pagan prison ministries and providing resources for
others wishing to take on prison ministries in their local areas. Maintaining
guidelines for contact with inmates and processing requests according to their
needs.
So far, an Introduction and Summary have been written and are available for
review and comment. If you feel you or your organization would be interested
in being
a part of this project, please send e-mail stating your name, group, location
and what if any experience with Pagan prison ministry you have had. You may
also list any other skills or abilities you feel would be beneficial to the
project.
