FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The new station is on 106.1FM and has chosen the callsign KQRP. The first choice of callsign was KPGN, but it was reserved before FOTE had an opportunity to request it. QRP may be familiar to many ham radio enthusiasts. It's a "Q-code" or ham lingo for low power station. Both Sandy Johnson, founder and director of FOTE, and her husband Brad are ham radio operators and have backgrounds in commercial radio. This station will be a conduit serving the community with positive and progressive programming. The online station will continue to function to reach a global audience as the LPFM station is only allowed to run 100 watts. This signal can reach a potential audience of about 50,000 in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California. While the focus will be on local community efforts, it will be infused with programming from all over the country to all over the world. Pagan producers are encouraged to submit shows and programming. The station is in need of purchasing some equipment and actively seeks donations from people who support this effort. A web site with a Pay Pal donation gateway has been established to aid in collection of donations www.KQRP.com. Donations are also being accepted by postal mail made payable to FOTE, POB 612, Salida, CA 95368. You can also find more information at FOTE's web site www.fote.org.
